Nearly two years ago, I underwent a significant life change – the removal of a pituitary tumour. During that time, I was also awaiting a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis. Thankfully, I was given the all-clear, which was a tremendous relief. This period of my life was filled with uncertainty and challenges but also sparked profound changes and growth.
I want to extend my deepest gratitude to the incredible teams at Chesterfield Royal Hospital, the Royal Hallamshire Hospital in Sheffield, and the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery. The dedication and care from the endocrine, oncology, and neurosurgery teams were nothing short of remarkable. Despite the NHS being in crisis, their commitment to patient care shines through, and I am deeply thankful for their support.
A New Chapter: Embracing Change and Focusing on Well-Being
During my recovery and the following years, I made significant changes to my daily work-life balance. As a result of this transformative journey, I decided to close my clinic at Redlands Business Centre in Sheffield. This decision wasn’t easy, but it was necessary for my own well-being and to better align with my evolving focus.
To all my clients, past and present, thank you for allowing me to be part of your well-being journey. I hope you continue to use the skills, tools, and strategies you’ve learned. I’m still here for you, offering support through ad-hoc work at Redlands Business Centre and being available via my usual contact details.
Evolving Work and a Broader Impact
My work has evolved significantly. Much of my focus now is online through mental health first aid training, health and well-being support services, and public speaking engagements. This shift has allowed me to reach a broader audience and make a greater impact.
I’ve made substantial investments in my business development, working with incredible mentors and global entrepreneurs. One of the highlights of this program will be our upcoming “Train the Trainer” course in Germany, coinciding with the vibrant atmosphere of Oktoberfest. This course will equip me with the tools and techniques to support leaders effectively, fostering a culture of well-being and productivity. It will also help me refine my public speaking techniques, enhance my ability to engage larger audiences and improve my delivery and content creation.
I’m excited and looking forward to it, especially since I’ve already been to Amsterdam, London, and Birmingham as part of the program. I love meeting people from around the world, joining like-minded mastermind networks, sharing best practices, and holding each other accountable. This journey of personal growth and development is constantly helping me develop new techniques and gain industry insights, which I will implement into my client sessions and training courses.
A Changing World: The Impact on Mental Health and Well-Being
The world has changed dramatically in recent years, affecting everyone’s lives and well-being. The pandemic, economic uncertainties, and social changes have all taken a toll on mental health. People are experiencing increased stress, anxiety, and a need for support in ways we hadn’t anticipated before.
For instance, remote work has blurred the lines between personal and professional life, making it harder for individuals to disconnect and recharge. Social isolation has also led to a rise in loneliness and mental health issues. These changes have underscored the importance of mental health and well-being, and the need for accessible support.
Stress to Success: Nurturing Future Leaders
As part of my evolving work, I am excited to announce the launch of our new “Stress to Success” program. This initiative is designed to provide guidance, support, and training to emerging industry leaders. The program focuses on building resilience, enhancing mental well-being, and developing leadership skills crucial in today’s fast-paced world.
Top Summer Tips for Mental Well-Being
Summer is a great time to focus on your mental well-being. Here are some unique tips to help you stay healthy and happy during the warmer months:
- Schedule Time for Yourself: Schedule time out for yourself in your diary. Prioritizing self-care ensures you have dedicated moments to recharge and reflect.
- Enjoy the Moment: Summer months go by quickly, so take the time to enjoy them fully. Don’t let the season pass without creating memorable experiences.
- Focus on the Present: If you can’t go on holiday due to circumstances, don’t dwell on what you can’t do. Focus on what you have and make the most of it. Enjoy local activities and find joy in everyday moments.
- Connect and Smile: Use the summer to meet friends, connect with others, smile, and laugh. Positive social interactions are vital for mental well-being.
- Look Up and Dress Up: Walk with your head up, taking in your surroundings. Wear those lovely summer clothes with pride, even if the weather isn’t perfect. Dressing up can do wonders for your soul and well-being.
