About Mike Lawrence
My name is Mike Lawrence, and I have dedicated my career to helping high-achieving individuals master their mental health. I have worked with professional footballers, Members of Parliament, and high-net-worth individuals. I am a published co-author of the book “Confidence: How to Have It and Keep It,” an award-winning international speaker, and a mental health advocate. My expertise is further enriched through mentoring programs with renowned figures like Amy Porterfield, Mac Attram, and Tony Robbins.
A Personal Journey
Eighteen months ago, my life took an unexpected turn when I was admitted to the National Hospital of Neurology and Neurosurgery for emergency brain surgery. Before being admitted to the National Hospital, I spent over 14 hours in the waiting room at the Lister Hospital Stevenage, unable to eat, sleep, or see out of my right eye. Imagine lying on a hospital trolley, asking anyone nearby to help you go to the loo. It was a harrowing experience.
I was finally diagnosed with a pituitary tumour, and the consultants were adamant about finding me a temporary bed before arranging transport to the National Hospital. I underwent transsphenoidal surgery, a procedure for removing a tumour of the pituitary gland. Rather than opening up the skull in a traditional craniotomy, the neurosurgeon reached the tumour through the nasal passages and the sphenoid sinus.
Unable to work for four months and initially suffering from double vision, I faced the possibility of multiple sclerosis. Twenty months later, my sight has improved, and neurologists now believe I don’t have MS, although further testing will continue for years. Through this ordeal, I changed my diet, focused on daily self-care, and practised what I preached. Now, I feel better than I have in 15 years.
